Take Your Markdown to the Web with HTML Export and PHP Frameworks

Export complete documentation folders as linked HTML pages, or generate a customizable PHP documentation site with navigation and search.

Your Markdown documentation can now reach readers beyond Scrawler. With structured HTML export and the PHP Framework generator, you can turn your documents into browser-ready pages or create a documentation website that renders your Markdown files.

Export a Document or an Entire Documentation Tree

HTML export creates a styled page from your Markdown document. When you export an index.md file, Scrawler also offers the option to export the full folder structure, making it easier to share a guide, project manual, or documentation library.

Structured export preserves your folder layout, copies supporting assets, and updates local document and folder links to point to the exported HTML pages. A link to another documentation folder leads to its exported index.html, so readers can move between pages in their browser.

Open the exported pages locally to review them, or upload the output to your web host. When your source documents change, run the export again to create updated HTML. HTML export is available in both the free and Pro versions of Scrawler.

Build a Markdown-Powered Site with PHP

The new PHP Framework generator creates a responsive documentation framework with folder navigation, content search, and a table of contents. Your documents stay in Markdown, and the framework renders them for visitors as they browse your site.

Choose your site title, logo, favicon, copyright details, and cache duration in Scrawler. The generator writes those settings to config.json alongside the generated index.php and styles.css files. You can edit the configuration later as your site evolves.

  1. Choose File → Export → PHP Framework.
  2. Select a separate destination folder, enter your site settings, and click Save.
  3. Copy your Markdown documents and images into that folder, preserving their relative paths, and include an index.md landing page.
  4. Upload the complete folder to a PHP-enabled web host and open its index.php address.

The generator prepares the framework and configuration; you add the documents and upload the site. PHP hosting is required to run the generated site. Navigation and search use cached information, with the refresh interval controlled by your cache duration setting.

PHP framework generation is available with Scrawler Pro or an active trial. The generator's built-in Help explains configuration, document organization, hosting, and troubleshooting, with translations across all 11 supported locales.
